HOME OUR COMPANY TRAVEL USEFUL INFO CONTACT US LINKS TRAVEL New Zealand is proud to have one of the
most spectacular and diverse natural landscapes in the world, all in close
proximity to each other and with excellent roads and signs along the way.
Ideally you will need at least 15 days to have a broad view of the country and
its principal cities: Auckland, Rotorua, Wellington, Queenstown and
Christchurch. However if you are able to spend a month, you will not regret it.
Many tourists think to travel to New Zealand as part of a visit to Australia,
mainly because the air fare is the most expensive part of the trip and therefore
they want to make the most of it. However, both countries are indeed
worthy of a more comprehensive visit and you will find that a short holidays
here will leave you with hunger for much more... Don't be
afraid to focus on one country, specially when there is so much to see and so
diverse. The Summer starts in December and lasts until the end of February/early March. Temperatures are pleasant (19-26C average) and when is hot, the emerald seas and golden beaches invite to swim and enjoy water sports. It is the time when most tourists come and therefore you should book well in advance to avoid disappointment. The prices for accommodation are also higher (from October to April) and the roads are busier and favourite outdoor tracks as the National Parks are also more populated. The Autumn runs from late March until the end of May, showing an amazing range of yellows and reds in the maples and poplars, enhancing the natural beauty of the southern lakes. The lower mountains are not yet covered in snow, with a few exceptions like Mt Cook, and the still mild temperatures make this season one of the best to visit New Zealand. The Winter is June, July and August. It is certainly cold, frosty, rainy sometimes, but you will also enjoy of crisp sunny days. If you like skiing, Queenstown and Wanaka are good places to go, as well as Mt Ruapehu in the North Island. The landscape in the mountains is beautiful. At times, floods and snow or avalanche risk may cause the closure of some alpine passes and the road to Milford Sound. High waves in the Cook Strait can sometimes delay ferry services between the two islands. During Winter, tramping/trekking tours do not operate in the National Parks. The Spring is welcomed from September until November, with windy and mild sunny days, yet sometimes cold. The gardens are full of colour, the cherry trees and magnolias bloom in early Spring and the roses are blossom from late October. Tulips and daffodils cheer up the city gardens. The snow starts to melt and is time to wander about in the lakes and mountains and enjoy the fresh air of the Spring. Another great season to visit New Zealand.
